Comment by Pops I put together a "cheat sheet" of sorts to help keep track of where to go to gather all the mats for this recipe. Then I printed it out and keep it by my computer as a reference. Sands of Time 8 ea. Sold by Yasmin Innkeeper in Uldum. Truegold Bars 12 ea. Tedious to make because of the Transmute cooldown. Flask of the Winds 8 ea. Flask of Titanic Strength 8 ea. Deepstone Oil 8 ea.
Made from: Albino Cavefish fished in pools around Deepholm Plenty of Volatile Life can be had through herbalism in Uldum and the other Cataclysm zones. Comment by I couldn't find anyone listing the price for the Guild Perk reduction of the Vendor materials from Yasmin, so here you go : 1 - Pyrium-Laced Crystalline Vial 4,g 8 - Sands of Time 21,g Individually, the price for the Sands of Time is 2,g with the Guild Perk.
The other materials vary between server on prices, unless you are making them. Comment by This is a rule that should applied to anyone with a 2 person mount. Get a friend to get on your mount.
Fly to Teldrassil. Follow them down. See step 5. Comment by Fonzy Food for thought for anyone who might be considering farming this mount: As of right now, it's a little less than a week before MoP, the level cap is 85, mounts are shared across your entire account, and there is currently no limit on the amount of daily quests you can complete in a day.
Since MoP is so close, I decided to put aside my normal regimen of grinding Justice Points and kill some time farming this mount. Luckily I have a level 85 alt with maxed Alchemy already, so all I needed to do was level up Archaeology and start farming. I spent several days on this, very unsuccessfully - I only got 2 Jars after getting completing a couple dozen Tol'vir artifacts, and naturally neither contained the recipe.
So I decided to research a little bit, and discovered that even once you get the recipe, the mats can also cost k by themselves. That's k gold in addition to the the 1, hours most people are estimating as the average amount of time spent farming just to get the recipe. And that's assuming you're starting with a level 83 character with alchemy and Archeology! So, here's a general rundown of all the things you'd need to do to get this mount, if you were a new account, starting from scratch: 1 Level a character to Considering this, I checked the AH on my server, and found a Vial for sale for 35k.
Needless to say, I scooped that baby up. I can't say for sure that 35k is a typical cost on most servers, but I would figure it's probably not that far off. Some quick mental math tells you that if even if you're a little on the lucky side and the recipe and mats only takes you 1, hours to gather, if you were spend that same amount of time instead farming gold via dailies, gathering, etc. On a whim, I went and did all the Firelands daily quests, and earned g in 50 minutes after vendoring trash and repairing.
That works out to be That's enough money to buy the mount 11 times at 35k, with 9, left over. But since you only need to buy it once, it would only take you a measly 76 hours to reach your goal. I don't remember what the payouts are like for the other level 85 dailies, so your gold per hour might drop if you go to Deepholm or somewhere and do those dailies as well, but I should think it would take you absolutely no more than hours at most at level 85 to earn 35k, a mere fifth of the time it would likely take you to farm the recipe and mats.
TL;DR , I don't want to necessarily deter anyone from trying to get this mount on their own, but doing dailies and buying the mount from the AH can drop your time spent acquiring this mount by a factor of at least 5. I think it's probably worth farming a couple Jars to see if you get lucky early on, but I'd say if you go more than 5 or 10 Jars and don't see it, you're probably better off just switching over to dailies.
Comment by Kevinsl It's now Account-bound ;. Comment by Pops I got this recipe about 6 months ago with my undead warlock on Borean Tundra server.
But now I am trying to get it with my gnome warlock on a different server I already have the mount for all of my toons but I'm wanting to make one for my son and his friends. Here's my question: Since I've already found and learned the recipe with one of my toons Horde is that going to prevent me from finding it again with another toon Alliance?
I finally DID get the recipe again for my Alliance toon. Comment by Osterkaktus A little fun thing to try: Transform into a sandstone drake and carry a person transformed into a sandstone drake. Comment by I would just about give anything for the vial of sands recipe.
Comment by deatdlym the base price of the mats for make it is 31 gold for potion but if you farm some mats you can reduce the price of minimum 1k. Comment by Question on this item- does anyone know if this works like all the other mounts and is BOA? Or can you only use it on the one character you receive it on?
Ex: If I get this on my druid, can I use it on my priest in my list of mounts? Usually goes for around 30,G,G i've seen. And i've watched the price for abt months now just to see for sure. As someone who hates lvl-ing new toons, I had to buy this mount. It took a while to get enough gold for it but it's worth it.
I really needed a 2 person flying mount desperately. Comment by I would like to see more such transform mounts in future. Comment by Vaystre Here is a list of the mats for the flasks and where to grab them. Whiptail — Uldum, along the sides of the river north and south of Ramkahen. Don't know if a specific alchemy level is required but mine was maxed at the time. Best of luck on getting Yours! Comment by Pops The demand for these has gone waaay down, at least on my server Cenarion Circle.
My Auctioneer add-on lists the value at 41, gold. I've had one listed on the Auction House for 30, Gold minimum bid and 34, gold buyout. I've listed it three times but so far, no takers. Considering the cost of the mats you have to buy 26, gold and the time and effort it takes to create the other mats Especially the Truegold Bars , I consider selling this mount for less than 30, gold an insult.
Comment by im so tired of digging for this dang thing Comment by I ended up farming for the vial for 3 weeks, got 2 canopic jars and it was in the 2nd jar i had gotten. Comment by stigmund Just to add to Vaystre's comment very useful btw, thanks , the cheapest method i found not very quick by any means to make this without having mining was to craft Pyrium Bar to craft Truegold: if anyone has any better ways to farm volitile water I'm all ears ; Truegold 12 Volatile Fire : Mount Hyjal fish lava pools and kill molten giants while waiting for pool respawn Volatile Air : Vortex Pinnacle farm the whole place 5 times per hour.
Volatile Water : Twilight Highlands kill enslaved waterspouts around the lake and fish from pools Pyrium Bar 36 without specilisation : Elementium Bar 36 : buy form AH Volatile Earth 36 : Molten Front Obsidium Punisher must have druids of the talon dailies opened at molten front run circles around that island. Comment by Kaidelair He is so beautiful, so wonderful. He is magnificent! My precious Comment by irishlord i bought mine for 39k.
I actually got all the mats for it to be made for me by the same guy but got turned off when he said give them to me and i will make it. When i knew he had one he could have traded with me. I just bought that one and sold the truegold and herbs to make those pots. Pots were worthless on AH so i am glad i waited.
Took me 3 days to farm the air , water, fire. Anyhow the important part is you can carry a lvl 1. So being the business man i am i flew over to lvl 1 land and said for gold i will fly you to a few FP's. No one bit. I took one guy for free to BB to be nice and he was great full.
Honestly at lvl 1 i would have jumped at the chance to have all local FP and not walk. I will keep trying. I say that because when I hit in Alchemy and in Archeology, I was still at lv 76 and tried to find the Tol'vir Fragments. I've dug a lot of times and nothing, the same old sites. It was then that a thought came to my mind "maybe it's because of my level". So I decided to look for another forums and they confirmed what I've suspected: you must be lv 80 too. So, when I reached lv 80, I tried to dig again and guess what: it appeared after the third try, like magic :p.
Comment by I have alchemy in , but can i get the mount without archaeology? Comment by Kioky uhm.. Comment by TheCrosshare After extensive wowhead browsing and testing in game, here's how i farm the volatiles needed for this; Warlock , mining, fishing in case you're wondering and one Voidlord named Daxirax ; 1: Go to Zul'Gurub.
Enter instance and take a left. Kill the Queen and loot the honeycomb. Go out, reset instance, repeat until voidlord gets bored meaning as many times as you can before reset instance lock occurs. Ignore Voidlords scorning gaze about the looming fishing activities. Kill them for the refreshing water they carry. If there's others there, you can also fish the pools for water. Crazy eh? You can also get othere herbs from fishing such as Azshara's Veil. You can skip step 5 if you're a non-warlock type of person.
You can slo try and find pyrite ore while you're in TH, needed for the other bits. This should get you what you need in a reasonable farmtime and have some leftover Twilight JAsmine and other stuff to make a bit of profit also. Happy farming and enjoy being a dragon! Am convinced that it's obtainable for maybe 2k less, but am happy with what I paid for it nonetheless! Comment by Gedoba That one indeed! That gives your sandstone drake a slightly green color.
Comment by mosstone I felt so special for having the cunning to squeeze one out of the auction house without too much expenditure, even if it is in Warlords a few expansions after arch was introduced.
But it seems that everyone has it now and all it's good for is having to boot freeloaders off in pvp. Comment by grundge Not worth making this mount for profit, at least on my realm.
Usually goes for like 40k. The vendor mats are 29k, so you make about 11K from one sale. Considering how much of a pita gathering the mats are to make this mount, a measly 11k aint worth it if you ask me. I mean you can make more than that just by having a few lucky days at your garrison mission and naval tables. Comment by Zabianyt I have a materials farming guide for this mount, I hope It helps a few people.
I know quite a few have found it useful anyway! Comment by paigeinabook2 I got my vial from about 2 canopic jars, so I must be extremely lucky. How does one advertise that they can make the recipe for tips? Comment by Gyrospark I find that hunting for restored artifacts in legion now seems to be better than hunting them the old way in Pandaria.
I recently boosted to level and blitzed through most of the old content up to the end of WOD. One of the things I had on my old inaccessible account was this mount, which at the time I farmed the mats for a got a friend to craft it for me.
So I decided to give the recipe a go using the Mists of Pandaria method using the sonic locator to make all dig sites mantid for 24 hours. I must've dug up and restored about artefacts this confused me at first but when you solve a project, you can right-click to crate it up and turn it into currency. You also have a chance to create a pristine version of the project which starts a quest and rewards even more restored artefact currency.
Once I got to Brann, I exchanged all of my currency for boxes of Tol vir pieces and solved a butt-load of projects in a row. Out of about 7 or 8 projects I solved, I only got 3 Canopic jars. Luckily I managed to obtain this in the first of the 3 Canopic jars!
I am now in the process of farming the matts to make 2 of the mounts 1 for me and 1 for the AH. I hope that this helps to motivate someone! Comment by starman Got mine today after farming for a week. Just some notes that might help others: I did the Mantid approach. Make sure your flying is at max to cut down on travel time. In Legion, because of the mobs and getting attacked, and "Why is this attacking me? It's just much slower that way.
Know your dig sties. It helps if you know that a yellow light can only mean it'll drop in a certain spot of a digsite so you're not going all over the place, wasting time. Find good music to listen to while farming. Get the Archy add-on. I didn't count the number of crates. Another method I used which could just be better in my head - I gathered up about items, and then solved those three, and then used one Mantid Amber Sliver to finish one off.
This allows you to gather more Slivers over time, and then you can use them more and more. At one point I had over 40 Slivers and then used them until I had 10, then did the 4-count again, repeat until you have about 20, start using the Slivers individually.
Waste of time IMO. Again - could be better in my head, I didn't do the math. Also, to save time, I looted nothing. I only killed things if I could afford the cooldown time like - single-shotting a mob if I know it would attack me eventually , or if I was being attacked. Don't get discouraged if you don't get Canopic Jars. I think that's all I have. Just keep at it. You can find her at the beginning of the instance Keep going about 50 yards and you will see her hovering above a pond.
Now that you can do 10 instances in an hour, I go do this on my rogue and just park her outside the instance for an hour until the restriction has expired. I usually get about Volatile Air per 10 kills, so it will take you less than 30 min not counting the 1 hr downtimes in between to get enough to make Vial of the Sands , which I make fairly often for guild mount raffles It takes Volatile Air to make Vial of the Sands , but you also need Volatile Life for the flasks required in that recipe.
But , you should get enough Volatile Life within those 30 kills because the Hive Queen's Honeycomb is supposed to drop about as much Life as Air of each. And remember Looks like when you find a herb node that does have Volatile Life in it, you will always get per node. Passing on tips to farm mats: 1. One in Twighlight Highlands 42,84 and one in Mount Hyjal 48, You can relog them every 30 mins while doing the other stuff. You should get roughly 20 Volatile Fire per 4 Pool of Fire each time.
Loot all the Stormvine too because you need the Volatile Life. You should get enough herbs by flying back up the river after the instance. You might be short of a few Volatile Life at this point - I either buy them or farm a few more herbs. Gathering these other mats takes me about hours, so I find myslef doing this every 10 days or so. Happy mats farming This took me about separate times coming out to Pandaria to survey for hours each time.
Comment by sithl0rd Just want to say I've been farming this on an off on my alchemist rogue. Gone from to doing nothing else. Got most of the mantid achievements. Only completed 2 jars. Why did I never finish this back in the day? This sucks. That is all. Comment by spacemanspiff As with The Hivemind , you can change the color of Vial of the Sands by using some items: Death's Door Charm for a "ghostly" white appearance Spectral Visage for a transparent "ghostly" appearance Rime of the Time-Lost Mariner for a translucent pink coloration Fire-Watcher's Oath for a translucent "salmon" coloration Heartsbane Grimoire for a "purplish"-blue coloration Kang's Bindstone for a gray coloration Combine Heartsbane Grimoire first and Kang's Bindstone second for a dark gray coloration.
Bewitching Tea Set for a bluish coloration be sure to "drink" from the tea set for a minimum of 10 seconds to obtain the color change on your character. I leave some alts parked outside Zul Gurub to get a honeycomb from the wasp sadly only one per day per alt now to stock up on volatile air. I use my Alchemy Transmute: Living Elements uses up the daily transmute coodlown in the underwater zone Vashir to stock up on volatile Waters - I use a druid in flight form herbalist to farm the riverbanks of Uldum for herbs to stock up on volatile life for this transmute.
I farm pyrium ore on my miner alt to make pyrium bars. I personally find it faster to farm pyrium to smelt than killing elementals for volatile waters though I may be unlucky with volatile water drops from kills. Which is why I use up my transmute on the volatile's rather than pyrium bars. I'm currently working on two Alchemist alts to use one for pyrium transmutes. See the post by 'OpusOpus' patch 7. Comment by Gandalftheghey After 6 days of digging for hours in panda land 38th jar was the win.
Comment by Otaber I was wary of spending a lot of gold on this because I could not find a straight answer so this will hopefully save some time for other people: To craft the Vial of the Sands , you need Alchemy.
This means you can purchase it from the Auction House and then fly a friend through areas you have flying unlocked even if they cannot fly. Comment by yesiroleplay As of 8. If you're starting a new alchemist and planning on farming for Canopic Jar , be sure to visit Zidormi She is just to the SW and around a corner from the Seat of Ramkahanen.
You can see her speech bubble on the mini map if you portal into the zone from your capital city. These dig sites will not spawn in the new zone. Remember you also also need Archeology for these dig sites to appear. Comment by ajcitg2 would like to know if anyone made this, but now the recipe has disappeared from their profession tab?
I own the mount and remember crafting it, even going as far as start farming a second, however after looking into the character that I haven't touched since WoD I no longer have this recipe. I've had a few questions asked to me, I got it in the Canopic Jar , which can only be found as Tol'vir artifact in Uldum, it is a common item.
My alchemy was only at the time, and my Archaeology was capped at The Canopic Jar is now a white quality item, so it shouldn't escape your attention so easily. There is a total of sixteen 16 Tol'vir digsites up from the previous nine in the game, all located on Kalimdor Uldum and you can only start getting Uldum excavation opportunities after hitting Archaeology.
The recipe will only drop for Alchemists, is not a guaranteed drop and is Bind on Pickup, however the mount associated with it Vial of the Sands is not. Non-mages, utilize your hearths as best as you can; the major home cities have their respective ports to Hyjal and Uldum.
Horde, I advise using your hearth to Orgrimmar when you have 3 or more projects in the northern zones Ashenvale and up and grabbing a Ring of the Kirin Tor so you can use the Caverns of Time portal in the Violet Citadel. This gives you mobility all over the continent on very short cooldowns.
Alliance can use Stormwind as their home point to fulfill the same purpose as Org port to Hyjal for the north digs. Even with these changes, this is a task only for the patient. Good luck, guys. Comment by It's smart loot, so it'll only drop for players that actually have alchemy.
Comment by Zulustriker Can you get the canopic jar artifact more than once? Comment by I personally think the recipe should be bind on account, if your alchemist is not your main, it would take forever to level archeology a second time and who wants to do that?
For Canopic Jar farming this usually means, the spawn chance of night elf dig-sites will be lowered once you complete all of their artifacts, causing your digsites to be significantly more focused in southern Kalimdor, reducing travel time.
This benefit is largely lost - however- once you complete the fossil rares; equalizing your fossil and nelf spawn rates. Your mileage may vary, I gave up after Now that you know what your in for, have fun! EDIT: updated with current numbers for dig sites and the new fragment drop rate EDIT 2: reupdated dig site counts, and added bullet point about spawn rate changes in 4.
Comment by I got the recipe yesterday from archeaology Tol'vir Canopic Jar it contained the item i already made it 3 times, one for me, one for a guy paying me 10k, and the last one for the auctionhouse - Comment by Rare drop from a rare drop from 45 archeology fragments.
It is likely that Blizzard outdid themselves with this mount. I find it an interesting dynamic when comparing the amount of time farming gold mats and the amount of time needed to farm a raid that this mount is the lonely man's path to epeen flailing that you mostly only see with the hardcore raiding guilds doing end game heroic raids. The difference Now people can pay you for epeen! The alchemist that has this recipe will be quite famous on your server.
I apologize if this question has been answered, I'm editing an older post. Obviously they can't use and it's BoP, I'm just wondering if a temporary trade skill swap may occur I see now that the question has been answered, seemingly according to posts you must be an alchemist to have this item drop Comment by It really would have made more sense for this to be a reward for an achievement this seems like a good candidate like certain cloaks in WotLK.
As it is now it's far too random. I got my first Canopic Jar on Sunday, now four days later I finally got a second one. Both without a recipe. I like to think I have more patience than most, but I can't stand the thought of four more days of spending all my in-game time doing archaeology for another chance of seeing this drop.
I've decided to give up for now yes, QQ and wait for someone luckier than me to get the recipe so I can pay them to craft the vial for me instead. Comment by Got the Canopic Jar today. No recepie inside : Just a gray item. My skill in Alchemy and Archaeology is so no trouble there. Just bad luck. Should you have enough Tol'vir points to solve the Canopic Jar and not be at max Alch or Arch lv I suggest you wait with the solving.
The excess solving points will be transfered to the next solvable item Comment by you do not need maxxed alch to get the recipe i got it today out of my first jar with alchemy at only , but my archaeology is capped out. Comment by Minou The spawning of more than 3 fragments per dig sped up the Tol'Vir hunt quite a bit.
I'm just opened my third Canopic Jar, to find my third mummyfied organ I'm now at 12 grey items and the epic ring solved so far. If you're not a mage, optimize your routes using the Hyjal and Uldum portals from your capital. Comment by Dropped on my first jar today alch at and archaeology. Comment by I got extremely lucky and got this after 2 Tol'Vir dig sites in Uldum.
My Alchemy is maxed and my Arch is Comment by Can a non-alchemist see the pattern in the jar? Comment by Felidire Anyone know if you need to have Alchemy as a profession in order for this to drop? I would much rather farm for this until I actually find it prior to dropping a profession, as opposed to dropping a profession, leveling alchemy and never actually finding it.
If so, have there been any blue posts regarding this, or is there any proof? Comment by timbaLt While it may or may not require being an Alchemist to receive the recipe, my Alchemy was only at when I got the recipe in my 2nd jar. So you don't have to stress about maxing out your Alchemy before opening your jars.
Comment by Deathturtle This mechanic is incredibly frustrating. I got no recipe from my first jar, and I am on my 9th common since completing one of each of the 7 Tor'Vir commons, none of which have been a second jar.
I have done of a bunch of others but no jar. I am starting to get very very very annoyed with Blizzard. Oh, and I'm sitting on all the mats as well :. Comment by YAY! I have prob been extreemly lucky to get this in first Jar and i have no idea if theres any other on my server who also have it, now i have started my farming on mats for the mount and hopefully ill get this mount in a few days. Comment by transmute alchemist archaeology I have opened 5 jars so far and all of which did not contain the recipe.
It took more than hours already just to get my 5 jars. It seems the drop rate is not that great after all. Completed a total of 77 commons and 3 rares for tol'vir. Currently have nelf fragments, fossil, and troll with everything in those race obtained. Comment by woot i just got my recipe from my first jar! Comment by So I've read a bunch on this and everywhere people are saying "yes you need max alch" "No you don't" etc etc. Does anybody know if your Archaeology has to be maxed, or can it be obtained without the ?
Kinda scared to solve it though since my archaeology isn't maxed. Comment by Suzuka As soon as I hit on my Archaeology I went to Kalimdor and started to farm sites there to get Uldum ones to appear, my second item was the Canopic Jar and I got the recipe first try. Also reminds me of the heavy frostweave book in Wrath , couldn't get it to happen as a drop until you have the required lvl of first aid.
My Alchemy btw is and I had it done first before leveling up my Archaeology so that might hold true, it would make sence. That or I just got damn lucky getting it on my first try. Cause I've been levelling Arch to get my friend his cause he hates it, and in return he'll make me a Vial after his own. Can I not find this? Comment by Suzuka the Recipe is BoP, your friend will half to be the one to get the farming done on his toon with the Alchemy. Comment by Genesis1 I first started taking alchemy because I heard of this "alchemy exclusive" mount.
After getting my Alchemy to , I figured out that the mount became BOE instead of just for alchemists, which made it "just another pricy mount". Kind of took away from it's luster, but then again, still worth getting, so I set out to farm the recipe. I am now 5 jars in, with no recipe. While other professions have been getting cool "exclusive" to that profession mounts, i. Thanks Blizz. Comment by I just got the recipe from my third Canopic Jar, took about 35 hours of digging up and down the continent.
Comment by Atleast you guys get canopic jars as projects, i have done 19 commons now and only got the first one Comment by This item is starting to drive me insane I've made a total of 46 common Artifacts, including 4 Jars, as well as 3 rares and have yet to find my recipe.
Sitting on about 2k fossil and 5k Night Elf fragments without any use, scared to even think about the time I've spent on this way beyond the point I can just give up. Honestly I would be very surprised if Blizzard didn't do something to make it easier to obtain. Comment by Sorry, that you hate me CrimsinPagan, 'cause I just got the recipe on my second tol'vir artifact with alchemy : But even when I got lucky, I officially hate Blizzard for designing archeology.
Its stupid and boring and boring and boring. Had maxed alchemy at the time. I know it doesn't matter though. Please, please, please, please don't call gambler's fallacy because it is irrelevant. I have put quite a bit of thought into my algorithms and the function of this simulation is an accurate model given the assumptions I have presented. The simulation was a console program written in C. Successfull finds: Comment by Does anyone know the drop rate of the Recipe?
I've Created 5 jars and havent had it proc yet. Maybe im just unlucky. Comment by Runefang hey guys, found mine today from my first canopic jar second tol'vir artifact.
Was extremely shocked that i did get it, after reading comments from people that they were opening 8 jars and still not getting anything.
Good luck :. Comment by Can this proc for an xmute master? Comment by dimichan Archaeology does NOT need to be maxed, I just got this on my alchemist tonight valkiyre, Sisters of Elune realm at skill. My alchemy was maxed,. From reading everything, I got very very very lucky, my second Tol'Vir dig started the jar, and about 4 hours later I completed it and got the recipe.
I also had an exceptionally horrible rare creation rate from archaeology prior to getting it - either it was making up for lost time, or I just used up all my luck for a year. Comment by temmy69 this recipe should be BoA as well as those epic items Hot fix plz. Comment by no recipe yet 15 common 1 jar 1 rare Edit: no recipe yet 21 common 1 jar 2 rare. Comment by 45 tol'vir commons, 2 tol'vir rares , and just finished my 5th canopic jar with no recipe.
Has anyone gotten their recipe not off their first jar, it kinda seems everyone that gets it is really lucky off their first jar. If you're farming it stay stay strong! Comment by Teenka, yes i realised later on it is not a transmute, so can it proc from potion masteR? Comment by Got it last night after 3 Jars and like 7 commons plus 1 epic from the Tol'vir after a week of mindless farming.
A nice christmas gift I guess! Or maybe blizz buff the rate only for xmas XD. Comment by britannagis Second canopic jar. I made a total of 13 artifacts 1 rare before getting the second jar.
Comment by Seirza Something to take note of if you are an aspiring Alchemist trying to raise archaeology for this recipe. Don't get discouraged by the increasingly declining drop percentage of this item. Wowhead does and always has collected data from anybody who submits it, as well as all other database-oriented websites. Don't let numbers on this site discourage you from trying for this recipe.
As it stands, I'm one of the few who are having rediculously terrible luck finding this. But I'm still trying for it. If I manage to find it before someone else in my guild gets it out of their first jar which will be my luck , I will edit my post with new numbers.
Edit 1 : I'm now up to 7 soapstone necklaces, 4 cat statues, 2 mosaics. Completed 3 more artifacts with no luck, currently working on yet another cat figurine. I have night elf fragments that I can't use because I have all the night elf rares.
I also have fossil fragments that I can't use either. Still no new jar. Starting to lose hope. As it stands I've made 30 commons, 7 of which were jars, and 2 Tol'Vir rares. But, before you look at that and say "she was effing lucky" let me put it into perspective.
It generally took me hours to get a single dig site in Uldum the last 2 weeks. I've completed a total of 3 artifacts in the last week alone. I have over 11 days played at level 85, and at least 7 of those were solely spent farming this pattern.
So, over hours played time invested in this item. Was it worth it? Hell yes. If you really want this mount, be persistent. I currently have night elf fragments, have farmed over 60 night elf keystones, and have fossil fragments. Comment by Yeah I am starting to lose hope. Terribly depressing, though it seems like Archaeology might just hate me Nearly Night Elf artifacts and still no Trinket either.
Wish Blizzard would do something to make this less painful! Comment by agathora Is a surprise that, the only mount available for alchemist is that spensive. Compared to the Tailors and Eng. But my question is, once the mount is maked it is selleable?
Comment by Yes, you can sell the mount once you make it. Comment by Just opened my first jar, with my alchemy and archeology both maxed. For this one item they made an exeption to be mean. That's simply taking 40hours game time from players for ne other reason than a tick box somewhere wasn't ticked. It's be stupid if It stays like this! I pity the RP'ers who have to somehow marry this into play.
Comment by Arzanot Have leveled Archeology to max on my druid and started farming for the recipe the instant i hit Got my first Uldum digsite after about 45 mins of clearing fossils and NE sites. This was about a week ago. Scarab pendant as the first rare, the most useless of the rares from Tol'vir, lovely : Update a : Been getting very frequent spawns, even had a triple proc on a Tol'vir site proccing another site in Uldum.
Was fortunate to get 4 hieroglyphs over 3 sites. And currently on the 2nd jar with hopes up. RNG can be your enemy or your friend. Update b : I Consider myself pretty fortunate to get 2 jars within 3 solves, lets see if the 3rd wont bear fruit. Average time between spotted sites has been approximately 15 minutes. To Be Continued The probability of not flipping a head in two tosses is.
The probability for heads not showing up in n number of tosses is. So the same thing applies to the drop rate. Lol sorry if this is a bit technical. Comment by matts Has anyone been lower than level 85 when they found the recipe? Comment by You do not need to be 85 to find the recipe. You do not need to have archaeology to find the recipe, only above You do not need to have alchemy to find the recipe. Comment by Hi im lvl83, i have archeology and Alchemy maxed , do i need to be lvl85 to find the recipie?
Comment by Kate I got Canopic Jar on my 1st, 3rd, 6th, and 8th common artifact drop with no recipe yet. Almost like looking at the numbers on a Powerball Ticket and seeing that 4 of your numbers on it matches today's winning numbers, and then realizing that you are looking at last month's Powerball Ticket.
No more farming for the recipe. Comment by Ok so after i leveled my main to level 85, and blizz changed the mount to be boe, i quickly started to level ONLY archaeology on my hunter level I leveled to on Eastern Kingdom, and a bit on Outland because digging up and down drove me nuts. When i hit i started to dig up Kalimdor this was on 23th of dec. By the time my hunter became Now, my hunter is level 85 still, only by digging , and no recipe yet.
I got : 3 canopic jar, 2 rare scarab storm pendant, ring of the boy emperor in progress atm 2 soapstone necklace 2 cat statue 2 castle of sand 1 tiny mosaic 3 scimitar hilt 3 sketch When i started this project NOONE on my realm had idea about the mount, about the recipe, and how to get the recipe.
My digging tactic is this: dig from up to down till i get 4 uldum digsite, then dig those, rinse and repeat. I have almost all night elf rares, plenty of repeats of course, and my bag is full of fossil stuff too :. Comment by Farming for this has made me an angry person. So far, 30 Tol'Vir commons completed, only 3 of which were jars, obviously none containing the recipe. However, I do not recommend anyone pick up this terrible profession.
Oh and I've wasted about 10, gold on Tol'Vir Hieroglyphics. Comment by quebmb Recipe Drop received with the following facts: Recipe was inside the first Canopic Jar solved, though other posts suggest that this is not a common drop as they have solved multiple Canopic Jars with no recipe inside. Archaeology was maxed at , however Alchemy was only at at the time of the find.
Total Artifacts solved: Dwarf: 5 Fossil: 28 mount and pet found Night Elf: 86 all rares found except trinket Tol'vir: 6 1 rare Pendant of the Scarab Storm found Troll: 12 All leveling and otherwise was done completely on Kalimdor. At no time did I travel to any of the other continents or zones. I was exceedingly lucky in this drop, I squeed both IRL and over chat to various friends for a good 20 minutes or so. Good luck and happy hunting to you all who are also searching for this elusive recipe.
Should also be noted that my toon is an 85 priest. No summoning or porting tricks. I did most of this strictly through use of flight points and the occasional hearth. Archaeology maxed on December 25th Recipe dropped a week and a day later. I don't know how many hours I have put into this project, but a good portion of my wow time since I hit 85 in the first week of release has been dedicated to this rather then instancing or leveling one of my other toons.
And I'm not done! I have a bunch of rares that I still need to dig up Comment by Rebs Sorry if posted but do you need max lvl alch to see this recipe?
Comment by I only leveled my archaeology for that recepie. My advice is dig only in EK whie you reach max levels, because you will hate it if you are all the time on Kalimdor.
It is a bit easier for a mage, since we can teleport and set HS in the middle of the continent. My recepie was in the 3d Canopic Jar, until I got that one I solved almost all the common Tol'vir twice, so it took forever. In meantime I got every single Night elf rare Comment by Oh my!
I must count myself lucky! The first Canopic Jar I opened up and it contained this recipe yesterday : I am still grinding for that trinket thought :. Comment by CrimsinPagan I finally got this today. Now, I can finally quit doing anything with this awful profession.
I hope that i get the recipe in next jar or second next. Comment by this is highway robbery. I dont see how people come up with 30k gold for mounts. I been workin on chopper forever an the two person riding mount in dal since i started. Comment by After reading theese comments I was preparing for a long grind, but got the recipe from the 2nd jar I created. Keep at it guys, the drake looks great. Comment by Dukuna Guildie got this in 8 Tol'vir finds in his second jar.
Talk about lucky! Comment by 8 jars, still no recipe. Seeing people talk about "finally" getting it after 2 or 3 solves is very upsetting, considering the trouble some of us are having : Oh, and Rekra: Nice trolling with that. There's no need to come in here and basically taunt people who have made a ton of crap and still not gotten it. Comment by I got a shocking drop of this recipe today.
I've had the Canopic Jar common artifact come up before and didn't get squat from it. I almost crapped my pants when this recipe dropped out. I had to reread it twice before the shock wore off. I have no idea if this really works or if i was just really really lucky I know, I'm lucky. Comment by stevekrok I am an Alchemist and this has dropped from the first Jar I opened.
I'm not sure if the other people farming jars are alchemist, but I know the droprate reported by Wowhead will be skewed by two things: 1 people who already have the recipe opening the jars 2 people who are not alchemist opening the jars. Comment by quebmb You are quite correct Kolenka. I was one of those lucky few that received the recipe out of the first Canopid Jar solved. I have solved a total of 6 Tol'Vir artifacts. The canopic jar itself is not considered a rare artifact.
The achievement did not complete. I would think it is on a different scale then the rest of the rare items and I don't see how solving rares in Tol'Vir would affect the frequency rate of the drop except for furthering along the cycle of items queueing up to get to the next Canopic Jar. It appears to be completely random.
I've corrected multiple people complaining about not finding the recipe on my server who were all fired up about leveling archeology in hopes to get this recipe drop so they could exploit alchemists and sell it for thousands of gold on the AH. I burst their bubbles informing them a recipe was BOP and b smart loot.
Unknown if someone who has just trained but not leveled the alchemy is still able to see the drop or not. Apologies to all of you who may have seen it as me trolling because of my luck. I am by no means trying to cheapen anyone's hard work trying to locate this recipe but the good luck drops are just as meaningful as the ones that take forever in figuring out the statistics and drop rates.
If it makes you all feel any better, I still haven't seen the darn Nelf Trinket. Comment by Mognar Here's my pain At that point I used all the dwarf artifacts that I saved; I saved them all, hoping for the staff.
That would have made this a little less painful Everytime you craft an artifact you have a chance for the next one to be the canopic jar. Unfortunately, dig site spawn locations in Uldum share the same continent as Kalimdor — maximum total of four. This item allows regular enemies to drop Arcana and rare enemies to drop High Arcana. High Arcana are essential for the construction of powerful weapons. The Morbid Urn which is a item called the Canopic Jar causes monsters to drop the items he mentioned.
High Arcana are needed for certain bazaar recipes such as making the powerful Tournesol sword and Arcana are needed to make High Arcana. It is a key-item. There are seven monographs all together. Speak with any weapons merchant over 30 times. The Muthru Bazaar is in the south-west of the city take the west exit across the bridge from the East End or go south from the clan hall.
You can also teleport there via the Moogling. The clan provisioner is the only merchant there who can sell you goods, so use the minimap. Volatility is super high, so dont be afraid to splurge if there are bargains.
I am currently sitting on large stockpiles of all the materials outside of Truegold, as I cant get enough cheap volatiles. Buying when you see good prices is extremely key to keep up your profits. Maximizing your profit is primarily about sourcing materials cheaply and keeping your mounts on the Auction House. Another great tip to maximizing your profit is to have several alchemists that can transmute Pyrium bars.
On my server this transmute is worth about gold per, and this increases my profit per Vial by about gold, which is a lot. I am currently running three alchemists with daily Pyrium transmutes. Remember that the Vendor Materials are only sold in Uldum. For posting operations in TSM its pretty straightforward. I strongly suggest canceling and reposting often. Doing this a couple of times throughout the day on the Armory app will usually yield faster sales.
I wont necessarily recommend farming the recipe, as it is horrendously time consuming, but the end results are pretty fantastic if you do. If i had been posting more aggresively, my profits would probably be even higher I have prioritised enchanting and Jewelcrafting lately.
