As the season progresses, Nancy's role changes as she is told to run a maternity store with Celia's help, used as a front to disguise a tunnel in the back room that runs to Mexico, in order to facilitate drug trafficking.
As she slowly begins to realize that the tunnel is also being used for human trafficking and gun trafficking, she decides to inform the DEA, despite having begun a relationship with the corrupt Mayor of Tijuana, for whom Guillermo works. In the finale, Esteban , the mayor, discovers Nancy is the rat.
