According to the police, a complaint was filed on April 15, by complainant Sheetal Prasad Singh who had said that he was being threatened by Babloo and his associates allegedly at the behest of his business rival Nitin Shah. The police said when he did not participate in the meeting, the accused started threatening him over phone. The court, after going through the evidence placed before it, observed that the police has failed to prove that Singh had travelled from New Delhi to Lucknow on March 11, and thereafter was taken forcibly to Lucknow Jail by accused Jitender Singh and Pradeep Khurana to meet Babloo.

In a letter to the state government through the jail administration, Babloo has demanded that the court hearings he must attend be conducted via video conference, as he fears Dawood's men may eliminate him while he is in transit.

Babloo, himself a former associate of Dawood, has said that he has information that Dawood plans to eliminate him when he is taken out for court hearings in Lucknow and Delhi.

The jail superintendent said that security had been enhanced around the high security cell where Babloo is lodged. Rai said Babloo is also undergoing trial at CBI court in Lucknow in connection with a case lodged against him by the agency. He also steps out of jail to appear for hearings in another case at the Tees Hazari court in Delhi. The jail superintendent said that Babloo was taken out of jail only under heavy security.
